First & Last Summer Vacation

Okay, y'all.. I think it's safe to say I win the worst blogger award for this summer. The last time I posted I forgot to mention that I would be leaving for a week to go to Charleston with Burke and his family... and then spending the long Memorial day weekend at a good friends house on Lake Norman. Whoops, sorry for leaving any loyal readers hanging! The good news though is I'm back home for the rest of summer so I finally should have time to get back in the swing of things and finally stop neglecting POP!

A few highlights from the previous week..
We arrived in Charleston on Tuesday and were greeted with a few thunderstorms.
On Thursday night we had dinner downtown at Halls Chophouse on King Street. I would recommend their carmel cake to anyone.
This is the view from the back porch. This view + a glass of wine is simply unbeatable.. my happy place.
We celebrated Memorial Day and our friend Chase's birthday over the weekend at his house on Lake Norman. My sweet girlfriend, Laney made him this unbelievably beautiful birthday cake. Funfetti and homemade icing y'all. I had cake for breakfast the next morning.

Oh, last fun fact- Burke is in Vegas this week with a few guy friends. He may kill me if he sees that I posted this snapchat of him, but I think there's a pretty small chance he reads this while visiting all the casinos! ;)

getting into the swing of summer

I'm back y'all! Sorry sweet friends for the long wait.. I've been in this crazy transition period since school let out a week and a half ago. Currently, I'm trying to adjust to my new summer schedule of waking up at 6:15am  and rushing to spend the morning and early afternoon in a classroom full of thirteen crazy & obnoxious... (but still pretty dang cute) four year olds. So far, I'm absolutely loving teaching, however I've already found out that on most nights, after spending long hours with young children, a glass of wine is necessary. With this said, I think I've finally caught up in sleep and relaxed enough to start blogging again for the summer! I can't promise you everyday, but I will promise you  two to three posts a week!

 Recent news..
Burke graduated last weekend and will be working in Greensboro starting in July!
On Sunday, after he graduated, we had a wonderful time catching up while having tea with his parents and grandparents at the Fearrington House Inn... I was seriously in awe of how beautiful the place was!

This past Wednesday, I took my kids on a field trip to Homeland Creamery in Julian NC. We had such a wonderful time. The kids highlights: The Hayride, feeding the two-day old calf, & milking the wooden cow. My highlights: Enjoying the 10:13 parent child ratio of the day, and the cake batter ice cream obviously

Style Notes: Summer Essentials

Good news: Three finals down, and only one more to go! Better news: Tory is having a sale today on the majority of her beautiful tunics... and y'all know how much I love my Tory Burch! Needless to say, this has served as the ultimate source of distraction from my exam studying as of the last half hour... fortunately, I've already decided I'm okay with that. My excuses: 1. i'd be more happy to have this pearl tunic than an A+ 2. it's Friday and practically summer 3. tunics are a necessity (sun-protecting!)

Desperately Wanting:

Faux-Bamboo Coffee Table
I'm buying the next one I see y'all. I don't care what condition or color it's in because it's getting spray painted gold just the second it's mine! I see it styled like this...
 ...completely smitten.
